we thought gouche or gouache was watercolor, but apparently it is different!  well we learn something new every day!  here is an interesting, atmospheric shop.  this painting vaguely reminds us of the artist goya!

ottillio says these are made from the same wood traditional carvers in oaxaca (his home state in mexico, if you are using human persons’ definitions!) use to make wonderful painted animals and fish and anthropomorphic sculptures (see what we did there, trinketenthusiastFriend?  see?).
the wood is wonderful, strong, lightweight, and soft!  also we understand it is fast growing and therefore not an endangered plant, which is good!
