namakostudios:

So I’m constitutionally unable to not fuck around with T shirts.  Plain T shirts are not something I generally enjoy.  I have a few that I’ve managed to leave alone, but the bulk of them get some kind of gothy-bohemian upgrade in the form of reshaping, embroidery, or crochet.  This is just a fact of my life.

A few months ago I went to JCPenneys, not something that happens very often, but my mom wanted to look at towels, so we went over there together, and I found a 3/4 sleeve grey T shirt for three bucks, so I bought it.  And ever since then it has been sitting in my alteration pile, because, and here’s the other weird thing, while I am constitutionally unable to leave T shirts alone, I also don’t really enjoy clothing alterations.  Oh, I love the RESULTS, mind, but I don’t like doing it.

Last night I decided I would crochet, in grey cotton thread, three panels to insert at the hem of the grey T.  One on each side, and one at the back.  I also plan to embellish at the neck or sleeves, haven’t decided, probably will be neck, but that will be more cosmetic change than alteration.  Anyway, to add an insert panel you require a kind of A line shape, hence I had to learn how to crochet a TRIANGLE.

Which, as you can see from the pics, I successfully did.  I added filet crochet to the bottom, and yes it is on the irregular side, but that was done on purpose, cuz that’s how I roll.

Now— can Piro successfully duplicate this for the other side?  And will the back panel be different in addition to being longer?  Stay tuned for ADVENTURES IN ALTERATIONS!
