westandwiththe99percent:

I worked hard at something I enjoy and I got very lucky. Now, tax laws subsidize my accumulation of wealth.I am the 1%, I stand with the 99%.

 *********
here is another tumblr!  we are also fascinated by this!  it should not be the intention of the 99% to demonize the 1%, but rather to see what can be done to rectify the situation.  this tumblr not only puts a face (or bunch of faces!) to the 1%, but also is quite cheering!  and also proves a valuable point— that being privileged is no excuse for putting on blinders, sticking your fingers in your ears, and going LA LA LA LA LA LA LAH!
yay!  oh yay!  we went here because some skepticism was being directed at some young human persons saying they were part of the 1% in support of the 99%— the skeptics were all like, well dude, they’re nothing but a bunch of trust fund babies, they didn’t earn their money, blah blah!  and first we thought well actually it is very cheering that trust fund babies (we assume that is a type of human fry we are not familiar with?) have managed to get the message in spite of being handed wealth, but then we checked, and found actually quite a few human persons who earned their money STILL got the message!  which means hard work does not entitle you to act like an asshole and they know it, and that is wonderful!
but to remark on the trust fund baby comment:  the blobfish said that the vast majority of those in the 1% are only there because wealth tends to stay in families.  which gives the offspring opportunities to do things.  which means they may get rich on their own too, but only because the opportunity was there.  it is a miniscual percentage of the 1%, relatively, that got there from the middle, and a microscopic percentage who got there from poverty.  and the reason is simple!  wealth is inherited!  sometimes for hundreds of years and many generations, like a special recessive gene that turns a porcupine fish’s eyes plain brown instead of the standard irridescent blue.
so don’t sneer at trust fund babies who actually got a clue!  and don’t assume that because someone earned their money that they are clueless and earned that cluelessness too!
thank you, human persons, for sharing your stories, and this is a pretty neat tumblr to follow too!
